February Activity

The Ushers, our good friends and former neighbors, and Piquads, Joyce and Bill, joined Jana and I at Nancy Lopez CC on steak and lobster night. A fine time was had by all. We all looked for Nancy, as she is here in The Villages to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her first ever win on the LPGA tour. Many of her fellow LPGA tour members are here also, and she will be honored with a celebration and a mini clinic that will be held in our Savannah Center.
Jon Baumhauer, my "cohort in crime" at Bennett Junior High for a zillion years, finally came to visit at The Villages on the 19th. We played golf at Nancy Lopez CC, where he and Jan Lantz claimed they were "pencil whipped" by the scorekeeper (who, me??!!!) and lost 40 cents. Despite the massive betting loss, we did manage to grab a quick lunch at Beef O'Bradys and give Jon a quick tour of the Villages. It was a beautiful day,and the course was in great shape. lots of fun and whining took place. Jon was in Orlando with his wife, Carol. Carol had a conference and was unable to visit The Villages this trip.Back in Ohio and in the Usher's Canada, lots of snow and ice, but it is always a beautiful day in The Villages!

Mardi Gras Golf and Medalling

Here is the Friday golf gang celebrating the Mardi Gras on the dock at Lake Sumter Landing. A golf match, won by Bob Lantz and Peg, followed by some beer, margaritas, and dinner at the Lighthouse, complete with Mardi gras beads..a good time was had by all ! Bob and Crystal Crafton (and I hope that spelling is correct) are new to the Villages...they are here from Ohio...Bob Crafton was a 71 Miami Grad, like me, so when we are on the same team, we are the "Seventy Ones."We all have lots of fun, and when we found out we knew some of the same students and teachers, it truly is a "small world!"Our other friends are from Maine, Diane and Steve, and they have had to take a lot of heat after the Patriots lost the Super Bowl.
Steve hits the ball a MILE, so we don't mention in when he is on the tee....he does not need extra distance!! ! In the other picture is our friend and Wed golf gal, Karen Greenlee. Besides golf, Karen plays pickleball and shuffleboard. She won the senior Florida games in the 55 age bracket, as well as medalled with her husband, Don. They are also from Ohio
Have a good February, and Happy Valentine's Day!
