The Villages Sports Talk Club
Kellen Winslow, retired Hall of Fame tight end for the San Diego Chargers, and college Hall of Famer from Univ. of Kansas. He spoke to us about the differences in pro football in the 70's and 80's and now. When he was the first round draft pick for the Chargers, he got a
180,000 signing bonus and six one year contracts at 100,000 each. His son, now a Cleveland Brown, makes much more than that for just one game. Kellen now works for Wide World of Disney. In the picture, he is signing a special publication, published by Disney Wide World of Sports, for Jana.
Our last Sports talk meeting is in May...the director has to move back to Louisiana to be with family, and no one has volunteered, as the director has to have some connections to get speakers such as we have had over the last 3 years. It has been a wonderful experience to be a member of this club, so we hope it continues!
