Crepe Myrtles in Bloom

June was a busy month here on Greenhill Trail in The Villages. We started out by having all the palm trees taken out of the front yard and the sides. (Who would have known that in about 5 years they would have grown to almost 40 feet from the five foot seedling that was a Lowe's "special?")
Secondly, we had a lot of fun showing a friend The Villages for the first time. It was record breaking heat in mid-June, so outdoor activities were limited to golf cart tours and the pool, as well as some drinking and eating establishments, but a fine time was had by all.
The picture above shows the only palm tree we have remaining. It is called a robellini palm. The harsh winter we had killed off a lot of palms in our area, and many were cut down and replaced. As you can see, it did nothing to the crepe myrtles, and they continue to thrive and bloom. This view, in the picture, is the side of the house, and over the fence is the 4th hole of Pimlico golf course. Have a great July, and will post again soon.
