Orange Blossom CC Flight Champs
The following ladies from our Wed. group entered the inaugural The Villages Orange Blossom Country Club Scramble and won our flight! There were four flights and approximately 112 women in the tournament. From the left are Jana Chronerberry, Peg, Jan Lantz, and Nancy Regan. It was a hot two day sc
ramble but we perservered, especially yesterday on the back nine, and won by one stroke. We all had our specialities, and for me, all I had to do was stagger up to the tee and drive the ball, and everyone else did the rest. Jana and Nancy specialized in some beautiful pitches and chips, and Jan some wonderful fairway woods and putts, to get us to number one. In plus 90 degree heat and humidity, and no breeze, we probably also broke a record in amount of liquids consumed. Each person on each winning team received a 50 dollar credit to be used in any country club in The Villages. A great time was had by all, and then we headed to Spanish Springs to McCall's tavern to celebrate with dinner, then headed home (in a rainstorm)with the golf carts.
Tonight is Mom's vegetable soup night at Jan and Bob's. I went over this morning, and Jan and I used my Mom's recipe to make up 3 large "vats" of homemade vegetable soup. Jan and Bob are going to freeze the leftovers (or start their own soup kitchen!) but we are going to have a treat tonight! Tomorrow is Nancy Lopez' dinner at Nancy Lopez CC, which also serves as Jana's birthday dinner. So, tomorrow night we get to visit with Nancy and friends. We are also looking forward to a little "cool down" in the weather, as there are plans for more golf on Friday. Have a great October, and keep em in the fairway !!!
